BBVA Commercial Footprints
Freelance, 2014
Project built for the Innova Big Data Challenge contest, organized by BBVA bank.
BBVA released an API to gather data of credit card transactions from its clients. Data covered a period of 6 months, for the Spanish cities of Barcelona and Madrid. The data contains info about purchases, commercial classifications, customer?s data (age, gender, spending, etc?), in general, data regarding customers and its purchasing habits.
The project is an interactive Data Visualization to explore purchases made by customers of BBVA Bank, classified by the customer?s origin. The visualization shows distances of the customer based on its postal code, so we can see which zones have customers from the city itself and which zones have customers coming from outside the city. As the purpose of a visualization is to give answers to specific questions, here the objective is to offer insight about which zones of the city attract customers from the city itself and which
zones are a preferred option from people coming from outside the city. The project is also a starting point to explore new questions, such as how these movements of customers affect the city's transit, etc...
The project has been part of the exhibition Big Bang Data (http://bigbangdata.cccb.org/en/), which has been opened at CCCB (Barcelona, from 9 May until 16 November 2014), at Espacio Fundación Telefónica (Madrid, From 12 March until 24 May 2015) and
at Espacio Fundación Telefónica (Buenos Aires, from 2 July until 28 November 2015).
